Few open events will be organised in 2005, so we are expecting a good contingent of international players and we intend to make the event in la Grande Motte truly memorable. The course has been shortened and improved to reduce playing time, thanks to Giovanni Trasforini, Christian Auzière and Jean-Christophe Mathieu.
The organisers are making a special effort to enhance the occasion by adding some local colour, such as a trip to sea, folk dancing and wine-tasting.
A light-hearted competition will be organised on a play-as-you-come basis on the 6-hole course to cater for those who don't feel up to taking on the stars in the 72-hole event. We are also organising an event, probably called "L'Open de Camargue" in La Grande Motte in May for AFGPP members who are unable to attend "Le Challenge International" in April.
For the filthy rich, there are regular flights into Montpellier with Air France and K.L.M.. For the rest of us, Ryanair has a daily flight from Stansted. A shared taxi from the airport is not too expensive and takes about 15 minutes..
Last year, some visitors used other airports and then hired a car. There are low-cost flights from many places in Europe into Marseille, Nîmes, Girona (in Spain) and Carcassonne all of which are within reasonable distance by motorway. In general, with low-cost airlines, the sooner you book, the cheaper the fare.
If you are planning to come by yacht, contact Christian Auzière who has done it from all over Europe and even from America!
Accommodation (all hotel bookings should be made directly). We recommend our partner, " Novotel" , which is on the golf course and is offering special rates for this competition (especially for Alan Hanlon!) :

As the field will be restricted, international players are advised to sign up as soon as possible. Anyone interested but not absolutely sure should put their name on the waiting list; they will be asked to confirm one month in advance and can make the final decision at that time.
A bientôt !
