On Saturday October 18, members of the Catalan Pitch and Putt team: Joseph Martinez, Dani Gimenez, Jordi Saborit, Marc Lloret, Jordi Serra and Enrique Sanz, coach Xavier Ponsdomènech and president FCPP Victor Moscatel were invited to the Camp Nou FC Barcelona. In addition to enjoying the game with SD Eibar (which ended in a 3-0 home win), the FCPP delegation was received by the president of FC Barcelona Josep Maria Bartholomew to whom a Pitch and Putt polo shirt was presented. The FCPP was presented with a replica shirt signed by the majority of the FC Barcelona first team.

The Catalan Secretary General of Sport, Ivan Tibau, congratulated the Catalan Pitch and Putt team, which was proclaimed champion of Europe for the second time. The venue for the function was the Museum and Centre for the Study of Sport, Barcelona.

The reception was also attended by the President of the Catalan Pitch and Putt Federation, Victor Moscatel, coach Xavier Ponsdomènech and President of the Sports Federation Union of Catalonia Gerard Esteva.

Ivan Tibau praised the "great job" done by the Catalan Federation, "which resulted" in the European win and "proves you do things right." The Secretary General of Sport also noted the importance of Pitch and Putt, one of the first sports in which Catalonia has the opportunity to officially compete internationally, that "represents us very well around the world and, in addition, you win, which helps promote the sport."

Victor Moscatel, for his part, thanked the Government for the reception said that the choice is "an example of the sports category we have" in Pitch and Putt. "Behind there are many players that want to emulate this team," he concluded.

Ireland's Liam O'Donovan and Pacelli Darcy (who played so well earlier this year at the Galician Open) led from start to finish in the 2014 International Pairs Tournament at Lloret Papalus. O'Donovan and Darcy carded a 47 in Sunday's fourball better ball to end the tournament on 19 under par 143. That was good enough for just a single stroke victory over fellow Irish pair John Walsh and Chris Scannell who fired 45 on Sunday. The World Strokeplay champion Walsh and his experienced clubmate Scannell (who captained Ireland to the 2003 European Team championship) were left rueing their sluggish Saturday foursomes score of 53. Just another shot back, Catalans Enric Sanz and Josep Martinez were third on 145. Two of Sanz's colleagues on Catalonia's European Team championship winning side - Jordi Serra and Dani Gimenez - were 4th on 148 marginally ahead of Irish father and son combination Weeshie and Shane Murphy and the holders Manel Martinez and Miquel Roger (Catalonia) on the tiebreak.

Final leaderboard

All to play for with just the fourball better ball round to play in the International Pairs tournament at the Lloret Papalus. Irish pair Liam O'Donovan (the reigning Irish Strokeplay champion) and Pacelli Darcy fired 46 and 50 in their respective greensome and foursome rounds. That left O'Donovan and Darcy 12 under par score on 96. Just a single shot behind are two Catalan pairs - the holders Manel Martinez and Miquel Roger, who are alongside Enric Sanz and Josep Martinez. Three pairs returned 99 - World Strokeplay champion John Walsh and Chris Scannell, who are level with the Irish father and son Combination Weeshie and Shane Murphy and two of Catalonia's European Team championship winning side - Jordi Serra and Dani Gimenez.
