Four Bermuda golfers will compete in the first round of the APGA Butterfield Bermuda Championship tomorrow at Port Royal Golf Course [Oct 11].
Cory DeSilva, Oliver Betschart, Camiko Smith and Damian Palanyandi will face 17 of the best players on the APGA Tour during the two-day invitational, which features 36 holes and is the first international event in APGA history. [Advocates Professional Golf Association].
The Bermuda quartet took to the field in the recent local qualifier for the Butterfield Bermuda Championship.
APGA players scheduled to play are Jarred Garcia, Joseph Stills, Kevin Hall, Kamaiu Johnson, Willie Mack, Marcus Bryd, Ryan Alford, Trey Valentine, Aaron Grimes, Tim O’Neal, Tommy Schaff, Brad Adamonis, Andrew Walker, Jordan Bohannon , Joe Hooks, Christian Heavens and Rovonta Young.
The event’s $60,000 purse is the fourth largest on the APGA Tour, and this year’s champion will receive $15,000 in prize money.
The Butterfield Bermuda PGA Tour Championship will also be held in Port Royal from October 27-30. The championship features 132 players, 72 holes in stroke play and a prize money of $6.5 million.
