December 21 – BROCK – Brock High School announces that a new group of leading head coaches will join the baseball, golf and volleyball programs.

“We couldn’t be more excited about the caliber of coaches joining Brock and, ultimately, what the future of our programs will look like under their leadership,” said Brock athletic director Chad Massey. “It truly is a big day at Brock as we celebrate these new additions and remain committed to excellence.”

Coach Tim Arden – Baseball Head Coach

Arden comes to Brock with over 23 years of expertise in mentoring and coaching high school athletes. He is a former college athlete with over 300 victories, a state championship, and won the honor of being named state coach of the year. He excels at building relationships with colleagues, players and parents.

“To instill discipline and respect in my teams while allowing them to have fun and enjoy the game,” Arden said of his areas of interest.

Coach Arden joined Brock last month.

Coach Hunter Fincher – Head Boys’ Golf

Fincher comes from a family of coaches and describes his coaching philosophy as follows: “My goal is to develop character and instill values ​​that help prepare my student-athletes for success after sport and the gym. class. “

After a successful high school career in basketball and golf, he went on to play college golf at Western Texas College. After graduation he took on his first coaching and teaching position at Weatherford ISD. Since 2017 he has been an assistant basketball and golf coach at Peaster. Hunter will start with Brock after the holidays.

Coach Cathryn Fontaine – Head Girls’ Golf

Fontaine has been a second year teacher at Brock ISD for the past two years, and now, in addition, she will be sharing her experience and successes in golf leading the women’s golf team. She won two state high school championships and received a full scholarship to play at the University of Oklahoma. She was then transferred to Tarleton State where she completed her college golfer career as an assistant golf coach. She then worked as a pro golf assistant at Canyon West Golf Club and Abilene Country Club. She has coached at the Hale Center and Levelland ISD. She will start coaching in January 2022.

Coach Nicholas Gay – Head of Women’s Volleyball

Gay brings over 14 years of coaching experience to Brock at the college level and in club volleyball programs. His high school head coach record includes 319 wins and 134 losses overall, also noting 12 playoff appearances and 10 district championships. He has coached in Programs 6A, 5A, 4A and 3A and has recently served at Weatherford High School since 2017. He was invited to attend the Olympic Training Clinic in 2009 and 2010 and is an active member of the Texas Girls Coaching Association as an all-state committee member. Gay’s start date will be announced soon.
