A full field of 24 ladies competed in the 2021 Desert Rose Golfing Society (DRGS) final event, the Christmas Pairs Scramble at Dubai Hills Golf Club on Monday.

The golf course was followed by the awards ceremony and Christmas lunch at the Hill House Restaurant.

Kerstain Drossard-Schumacher and Nicole Mertens won the top prize with an allowance format of 20 percent of combined disabilities.

The finalists were Annette Spruit and Ingrid Lin. Wafa Abuzeid and Dawn Eaton also won team awards on the golf course, while Aileen Johnson and Caroline Rosenstock took home the closest awards.

At this flagship event of the annual DRGS calendar, one of the top prizes of the day was the Best Dress Award which was won by Aileen Johnson and Allison Bryant-Melone, voted on by secret ballot.

After all the formalities of the long and pleasant lunch, it was followed by an exchange of Secret Santa gifts and a raffle organized by DRGS.

Thanks should go to Retief Tolkein of Dubai Hills GC and Mark Conway of Hills House Restaurant at the club.

Finally, on behalf of the Desert Rose Golfing Society, I must thank all of our members for their continued support as well as all of our favorite golf clubs and sponsors who helped launch this initiative. I am delighted with the progress we have made this year with DRGS since our launch this summer.

We are creating a true female golfing community in Dubai and the United Arab Emirates for members and non-members of UAE Golf Federation member golf clubs with a valid handicap.

We have had so many great events, JA The Resort, Jebel Ali, Order of Merit has attracted good support, we have introduced a nine hole Social Par 3 once a month at Trump International Golf Club which includes spouses and we have plans for new events in 2022, which we will announce soon.

A big seasonal greeting to all of our Gulf News supporters and readers as DRGS takes a short Christmas break and returns to action in the second week of January.

The Desert Rose Golfing Society is supported by the Emirates Golf Federation, Gulf News, BMW, JA Resorts and Hotels, Orient Travel, Golf Superstore, Car Buying People and Mediclinic.
