The third annual Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce Golf Classic will take place Friday at the Cherokee Ranch Golf Club.

The 18-hole four-course will also feature a golf ball drop in which one lucky winner will take home $1,000.

The event began in 2020 when COVID-19 forced the cancellation of Tomato Fest, according to Room President Peggy Renfro. The Chamber had long wanted to schedule a golf tournament, so now was “the perfect opportunity”, she said.

On Monday, thirty-one teams were entered into the tournament, which raises funds for the Chamber to help with future programs.

Renfro said the event is a great way to showcase one of Jacksonville’s great treasures while enjoying a fun day of golf.

The team entry fee is $400 and registration is open until noon Thursday. Teams must provide their own golf cart.
