Whenever we talk about two golfers together, their comparison is inevitable. However, sometimes it feels wrong to do so. Similarly, recently a question about Jordan Spieth and Seve Ballesteros came up, and the golf community was not happy.

Belonging to two different eras of golf, at the time of Jordan Spieth’s birth, Seve’s professional career was in the final years of its historic run. With 50 European Tour triumphs, the most titles ever won, he has undoubtedly secured a permanent place in the world of golf. On the other hand, 28-year-old Spieth has 12 PGA Tour wins, although there are still plenty of years to go.

Golf Digest releases poll on Jordan Spieth and Ballesteros; offended fans
Golf Digest recently took to Twitter to post a photo asking, “72nd hole. In the trees. Birdie up for grabs. Who do you pick?” Also, the photograph was a collage of Spieth and Seve. However, unlike always, they did not receive direct responses from fans, explaining their choice of golfer. No, for several reasons, most fans didn’t like this idea.
Some have pointed out a glaring fact; that Seve is dead, and therefore, there is no doubt about the winner. However, given the legacy left by the European Tour star, many thought it extremely discourteous to attempt the comparison.
Additionally, a few discussed the unfairness of comparing two people who competed at completely different ages. In terms of knowledge, popularity and technological improvement in golf, the last two decades have seen more improvements than the entire previous century combined. Nevertheless, most were simply offended by the audacity to extend the comparison to Sève. So, let’s look at some of the fan comments-
Not a Seve fan – but that’s disrespectful to his legacy.

Is this a serious question? Sap all day, every day and twice on Sundays. He played at a time when you could bend the ball a lot.

Different generations and gear but I think even Jordan will choose Seve to get out of that bark and land on the 13th green in Augusta 😊🏌🏽♂️

After watching the two play, Seve from a mile. To be fair, it’s harder to work the ball the way Seve did with current clubs and balls, but Seve nonetheless.

What a ridiculous question…

Seve, and it’s not even close. I love Jordan and his game, but I don’t think he’s “deserved” Seve’s timely escape just yet.

I mean really?? Lol not even close and I’m a Jordan fan

What do you think about this? Do you think they went too far or was it just a poll, not to be taken too seriously?
