Read below to learn more about this first-year golfer and find out who inspires her to be the best, no matter what.

Who inspired you to start playing? How long have you been playing golf?
HH: My father and my grandfather are behind my inspiration to start playing golf. For about three to four years, I mostly played for fun. I started to get more serious about the game and learning golf around the age of 12.

Where is the best golf course and why?
HH: Personally, I love to play on the McCabe Golf Course. I know the course mainly because I used to go golfing with my dad sometimes. The course has 27 holes, is easy to walk and has a good beach. This is ideal when I need more practice or time to perfect my golf swing. Hope to continue seeing and playing more courses like McCabe while continuing to golf.

Golf is an individual sport which requires patience. What is your routine to help you stay focused on your game?
HH: I stay focused knowing that I won’t always have the perfect play, the winning shot or the best swing. I allow myself to make mistakes, learn from them and keep practicing. To really sum up, I give myself a little grace with every game!

What’s the most rewarding part of golfing?
HH: I’m constantly evolving to be a better golfer, a better player overall. The more I work on it, the more rewarding it is.

Who is your golf model and why?
HH: My dad has always been my role model when it comes to golf. He’s been playing his whole life and he’s personally the best golfer I know. We all have our celebrity golf models like Tiger Woods, Michelle Wie or even Brooke Henderson, but I can’t tell. My dad is the one who got me into the game, helps me with various techniques and is just there to cheer me on.

You’re at the last hole, what’s the only thing you’re telling yourself?
HH: I take a deep breath and tell myself you’ve made it this far and you’re doing my best. Doing my best is all I can do.

Golf can be an all-day event; How do you balance your studies and your sport?
HH: Communication and the management of learning time are essential. My teachers are understanding. They are gracious and give me an extra day or two to complete a mission if I am late. I don’t make it a habit, because my studies are important. I balance it well by making to-do lists, and I have improved in managing my time, my studies and my practice.

Describe your worst athletic performance. What did you learn from this experience?
HH: I was in a tournament not too long ago and felt like the less experienced player that day compared to other golfers. This experience motivated me more to be the player I want to be and to keep working hard to get there.

Is playing college golf your future?
HH: Golfing at the college level is definitely an option I’m considering.
