King George’s Michael Sevier took medal honors, but Eastern View used the balance to win the team title at Tuesday’s Battlefield District Golf Championships.

Sevier shot a round 74 to complete four shots in front of the course at Mattaponi Springs Golf Club. The Cyclones had the next two best scores (78 from Peter Scott and 80 from Gaige Robson) and finished four strokes ahead of the Foxes in tag team competition.

The top finishers qualified for the Region 3B Championships on September 27 at Shenandoah Valley Golf Club and the Region 4B event on September 28 at The Hollows in Ashland.

JEFFERSON’S DISTRICT

Charlottesville’s Preston Burton shot a 72 against Western Albemarle’s Elsie MacCleery, who shot a 74, to win the individual Jefferson District title.

MacCleery’s Warriors comfortably won the tag team title, 311–325, against Albemarle. Louisa edged Orange by one stroke, 354–355, to finish sixth.

COURTLAND 3, EAST VIEW 0Maddie Smith led the Cougars with 11 wins to help defeat the Cyclones 25–11, 25–13, 25–17.

Caroline Eastlake had nine kills and two aces and Chloe Rose provided 21 assists, six aces and three kills in the home win.

Courtland (10-5) will host King George on Thursday in a battle for first place in the Battlefield District.
