KARACHI: National Women’s Champion Humna Amjad comfortably won the Engro 4th Sindh Golf Association (SGA) Women’s Amateur Golf Championship here at Karachi Golf on Sunday.

Humna, 17, was at full throttle in the third and final round of the championship as she scored an impressive 75 to claim the title with a total of 54 holes of 234.

Daniah Syed had a total of 228 (net) over three days to win the net trophy in the 0-12 handicap category. His sister Abiha Syed finished second (gross) while Zaibun Nissa from Lahore finished second in the net category.

In category B (handicap 13-24) Tabassum Sharif won in the raw category while Sana Zeeshan from Islamabad reigned supreme in the next category. Amna Amjad was second in the raw category while Aisha Kashif was second in the net category.

In category C (handicap 25-36), Sadia Asim took top honors in the raw category while the net trophy was won by Shaheen Warraich. Laila Khan finished second in the raw category while Tasleem Hussain finished second in the net category.

In category D (senior ladies), Sarah Mehmood won in gross while Tahira Raza won in net. Maneeza Umar was second in gross while Farah Chhapra was second in net.

In category E (girls under 14), the winners were Zaina Zeeshan and Zoha Zeeshan. Humna Amjad won the putting competition.

The event ended with a well attended awards ceremony. Safinaz Muneer, co-founder of Sana-Safinaz, was the guest of honor on the occasion. Also in attendance were Azhar Hameed, Vice President of the Sindh Golf Association (SGA), Cmdre Ghazanfar Abbas, COO KGC and Cmdre Zafar Mehmood, among others.

Speaking on the occasion, Fawzia Naqvi, Lady Captain KGC, said that the level of women’s golf in Pakistan has increased over the years, adding that more and more female players are entering the game. Fawzia, also the tournament director of the event, thanked the sponsors and the players noting that everyone involved played a role in the success of the organization of the championship.
