WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – After a first day in the middle of the pack, Illinois State men’s golf earned a 10th place finish at the Purdue Fall Invitational.

The Redbirds’ Valentin Peugnet continued his solid form this season, finishing 16th overall with a score of 221 on the weekend he also finished as ISU’s top golfer.

A strong start on the first day of the Invitational saw the Redbirds finish in eighth place. Regular player Felix van Dijk had a tough start to his tournament, finishing with a 74 at two over par and an even worse at four over 76 in the second round of day one.

However, the Redbirds were helped by Peugnet and Parker Wisdom who tied first for the day for the ISU. Wisdom’s first day ended in a bogey, but scores of one-for-73 and even-for-72 clinched ISU eighth on the course.

The second and final day on the fairway gave way to some hesitation from Redbird who fell two places to 10th.

Peugnet, despite finishing top of the Redbirds, closed the day with a four-for-76 and fired three bogeys and two pars over the final five holes.

Van Dijk, alongside fellow Redbird Alex McCulla, finished with an 82 on the final day. They also finished with the same score in the tournament with a final total of 232 points, good enough for a 53rd place finish.
