Joanne Margaret Brosh passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday March 5, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
Joanne was born on August 11, 1930, the eldest daughter of John and Margaret Dougherty.
Joanne married Robert Brosh on June 21, 1952 and had six children: Margey (Craig Detweiler) Brosh, Ed (Ruth Ann) Brosh, Dave (Becky) Brosh, Cathy (Bob) Strasser, Richard (Sandie) Brosh and Bobby (Kathy ) brosh; sixteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Joanne was a graduate of Wheeling Hospital School of Nursing and began her career at King Edward VII Hospital in Bermuda, where her husband was stationed in the Navy. Upon Joanne’s return to WV, she worked at Wheeling Hospital for several years. When her eldest daughter entered college, Joanne returned to the workforce as a registered nurse at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home, until her youngest child completed her undergraduate degree. Joanne retired in 1985 and subsequently enjoyed years of travel, golf and time spent with her family. She was a member of Wheeling Park Golf Club and the Oglebay Women’s Golf Association.
The family would like to thank Joanne’s loving caregivers, as well as Dr. Dan Wilson and his staff, and Léo Boissy.
Friends will be received on Friday, March 11, 2022, from 4 p.m. until the wake time at 6:30 p.m., at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger Street, Wheeling. Joanne’s funeral will be held Saturday, March 12, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Church, followed by interment at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
