A few days ago there was a story here about the Keys Cougars Men’s Golf Team being named State Academic Champions with a 4.0 grade point average (GPA).

In detail, this means that the five members of the team, senior Jackson Tarrance, juniors Gabriel Enlow, Reed Trimble and Josiah Wolff, and second Evan Harkreader, have each had straight A’s from ninth grade to this year. .

The Lady Cougars recently finished sixth in the State Golf Meet, but they also finished with a 3.972 cumulative GPA, which included four consecutive 4.0s and a 3.86.

The five-member Lady Cougars team included seniors Carlee Gideon and Lilly Massingill, as well as sophomores Jaycee Gideon, Chloee Barnes and Ellie Walls.

When the math is done, the combined GPA of both teams is an astonishing 3.986, just 0.014 from the solid 4.0!

The Keys school system produces very good athletes, but more importantly, it produces athletes who are dedicated to studying in the classroom and pursuing their college careers.

Kudos to the Keys School District, entire coaching staff and golf coach Dick Goss for providing stats after both teams received their trophies earlier this week.
