PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – Bay Point Golf Club is hosting the second Lady Bison Classic presented by Under Armour. The Lipscomb University Women’s Golf Team is the school hosting this event.
There are 15 D1 teams in town to face off with a practice round on Sunday.
The tournament will begin with a shotgun at 7:30 a.m. Monday where golfers will play 36.
Tuesday for the final round will be another shotgun starting at 8:30 a.m., and golfers will play at 6 p.m.
“I wouldn’t want to put a lot of regular female golfers against them, that’s how good these girls are,” said Lipscomb’s head women’s golf coach, Jesse Lawley. “They work hard. Not even my team. I speak at all levels. These are girls who put in a ton of hours, got college scholarships, and deserve all the recognition they can get for really putting their time and effort into it. On top of that, they go to school and women’s golf is known. across the country as an elite when it comes to academics as well. I can’t say enough good things about the quality of these women.
Bay Point has come a long way after Hurricane Michael and general manager Ryan Mulvey said hosting this tournament for the second time is a testament to how far we’ve come.
“We’ve been through a lot here at the Club, but to be able to have the opportunity to run these kinds of tournaments, especially to be able to do them again, is a testament to the staff here, the culture and the club and being able to bring those tournaments back” “We are already planning to do it again next year. All the staff are very proud. These tournaments are fun to do. Everyone is working together towards the same goal, and when the tournament is over, it’s fun for us too. We feel a lot of pride and accomplishment when it’s all over.
Spectators are not only allowed, they are welcome.
