Harding’s women’s golf team recruited three female golfers to the All-GAC team when the conference presented the awards Saturday, April 9 night. Brenda Sanchez was named to the All-GAC Second Team while Bryan Abbey and Alicia Martinez received honorable mention All-GAC. Bryan was also named an Elite Scholar Athlete as Kodie Earnings was named Athlete Scholar Distinguished.

Sanchez, a sophomore from Celaya, Mexico, received the second All-GAC honor of her career by being named to the second team. Sanchez was named a 2021 All-GAC Honorable Mention after finishing in the top-10 at the 2021 GAC Championships. Sanchez has played in 18 rounds this season and has posted four top-10 and two top-5 finishes. Sanchez is currently enjoying the best season in program history, averaging 77.1 per round, the best scoring average in a single season.

Martinez, a sophomore from Montroig Del Camp, Spain, received her first All-GAC honor, being named Honorable Mention. Martinez has posted two top-10 finishes this season in eight events. Martinez has the second best single-season running average in program history at 78.3 per round.

Bryan, a senior from Big Spring, Texas, received her first All-GAC honor with a spot on the honorable mention team. Bryan posted 2 top-10 and one top-5 finishes in eight events. Bryan was also named an Elite Scholar Athlete, meaning she has a GPA of 4.00 with over 70 hours completed. Bryan was also named an Elite Scholar Athlete in 2021.

Winnings, a junior from Haltom City, was named a Distinguished Athlete, meaning she had at least a 3.70 GPA with at least 70 hours completed. The earnings were also named 2020 Academic All-GAC.

Henderson State and Arkansas Tech led the way with four players each. Henderson State had three first-team members and a second member, including Gracen Blount Jr., GAC Player of the Year and GAC Coach of the Year. Arkansas Tech had one each in the first and second teams with two honorable mentions. Southwestern Oklahoma had two honored golfers while Oklahoma Baptist and Arkansas-Monticello each had one.

The 2022 GAC Tournament kicks off Sunday, April 10 and runs through Tuesday at Hot Springs Country Club in Hot Springs, Arkansas, beginning at 8 a.m.
