SECOND PLACE: The Granbury Girls Purple golf team took second place in Azle.


Defending golf champion Mason Lewis shot a total of 147 over two days to claim the individual title at the District 5-5A Women’s Golf Tournament and the Granbury Purple Team took second place overall Friday at the course Cross Timber golf course in Azle.

Lewis shot a 72 on day one and followed that up with a 75 for her 147, 16 shots better than Aledo’s Alyssa Saunders, who finished second with a 163. Lewis was the only golfer to shoot below 80 both days.

Granbury Gold’s Kylee Upchurch came home with an eighth-place finish with a 185. Hot on the heels of Upchurch were Akyah Ditto (187), Namsuk Appakarn (188), Hailey Golen (199) and Presley Grizzell with a 203 .

Aledo’s Black team topped the team runners-up with a total of 672, while Granbury’s Purple had a 725 and Team Granbury Gold was fourth with a total of 813.
