Gemma Dryburgh and Jodi Ewart Shadoff couldn’t build on their fast starts for the Lotte Championship, where Hyo Joo Kim opened up a three-stroke lead halfway through.

Both Dryburgh and Ewart Shadoff were just one step off the pace after day one in Hawaii, falling six and 10 strokes respectively after rounds of 73 and 77 on Thursday.

Kim carded a second successive bogeyless 67 to move to 10 under, with a chip-in from the sixth green, one of five birdies in her round at Hoakalei Country Club, while Australia’s Sarah Kemp is second after having carded his third hole- out of the week en route to a three under 69.

“I couldn’t believe I had another one today,” said Kemp, who tracked the sixth and 10th holes on Wednesday as he took part from the 14th green in the second round. “My caddy kind of joked and he’s like, I’m just gonna hit you short on most of this stuff then.”

Thailand’s Ariya Jutanugarn and South Korea’s Haeji Kang tie for third place on six under, with South Korea’s duo A Lim Kim and Na Rin An in fifth after earning a second-round carding 67.
