A man was reportedly hit with a golf club and a woman was threatened with a hammer in an alleged street attack in Sutton-in-Ashfield.
There were reports of a man getting out of his car with a golf club and hammer and approaching the couple on Outram Street at 1:10 p.m. yesterday (Saturday, December 18).
He then allegedly hit the man in the shins with the club, before brandishing the hammer above the woman’s head.
Members of the public called 999 and a suspect quickly left the scene. He then went to the police and was arrested on suspicion of a brawl.
Detective Sergeant Matt Scott of Nottinghamshire Police said: “This was an incident involving a number of people who knew each other and although it was still of concern to local residents when unrest developed. occurring in the street, we believe this to be a self contained self-incident with no wider threat to the public and a male is in custody.
“We are continuing to investigate the circumstances and I urge anyone who has witnessed the incident and has not yet come forward, or anyone with video footage, to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, citing incident number 373 of December 18, 2021. “
