Concord, NH – Junior Tyler Bird (Elma, NY/Iroquois) tied for ninth to lead the Le Moyne College men’s golf team to a third-place finish at the Penmen Fall Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at the 6,500-yard par-72 Beaver Meadow Golf Club.

Host Penmen won the team competition with a two-day score of 583 after posting a first-round 297 and then an invitational-best 286 on Tuesday. Assumption University placed second with a 587 on rounds of 290 and 297. The Dolphins finished third with a 596 after placing first after the first round with a 289 and then posting a 307 in the second round to lose two places in the standings. Merrimack College’s Patrick McCarthy took medal honors with a par 140 four-under round of one-under 71 and three-under 69.

Birdd finished in a five-way tie for ninth with a 147 after scores of 76 and one under 71. Senior Luke Barney (Apalachin, NY/Vestal) was a shot back in a three-way tie for the 14th round of a career tied 73 and 75. Senior Nicolas Bové (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee), the first-round leader with a three-under 69, tied for 21st with a 150 after posting an 81 on day two. Second year Johnny Grüninger (Syracuse, NY/Manlius Pebble Hill) recorded a 151 to finish tied for 23rd after rounds of 71 and 80. Antoine Maglisco (Syracuse, NY/Westhill) finished tied at three for 49th with a 158 in his college debut after scores of 77 and 81.
