The North Texas men’s golf team returns to competition with a return to the All-American Intercollegiate after a strong performance last week at the Louisiana Classics.
THE EVENT: The Houston Golf Club will play 7,425 yards and be a par 72 course for the tournament. The two-day event begins Monday and ends Tuesday, with gunshots starting each day at 8 a.m.
FIELD: There are 17 teams participating in the tournament: Abilene Christian, Arkansas State, #46 Baylor, #33 Florida State, Georgia State, Houston, Lamar, Louisiana, Louisiana Tech, Mississippi State, New Mexico State, North Texas, Rice, State of Sam Houston, State of Texas, ULM and UTSA.
UNT REPRESENTATIVE: The competition for the Mean Green will be Vicente Marzilio, Diego inclined, Victor Forslund, Lenny Bergsson and tucker allen.
RESULTS: Live results will be posted on GolfStat.com. Full recaps of each day of competition will be posted on MeanGreenSports.com at the end of each round.
LAST DEATH: North Texas finished third at the Louisiana Classics last week, when the Mean Greens were led by Prone, who finished tied for third to earn Conference USA Golfer of the Week honors. Marzilio finished tied for ninth to give Mean Green two top-10 finishes.
INTERNATIONAL FLAVOUR: The Mean Green have six international players this year. Lenny Bergsson (Iceland), Victor Forslund (Sweden), Nikhil Gopal (South Africa), Zak Karkaletsos (Spain), Diego inclined (Argentina) and Vicente Marzilio (Argentina) complete the international players.
FOLLOWING: North Texas will be heading to The Hayt in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida on March 27-28.
