WAILUKU – 25th Annual Maui Hotel & Lodging Association “Excellence in Education Presented by Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits” golf tournament was held on Friday, June 24 at the Kaanapali Golf Courses. The sold-out event raised $40,000 to support scholarships for young people.
While the top teams won great prizes, the real winners of the event are the young people of Maui. The popular visitor industry event celebrated 25 years of giving back to Maui’s future business leaders by raising significant scholarship funds for the following programs: Academy of Hospitality & Tourism Academies at Baldwin, Lahainaluna and Maui High School; University of Hawaii’s Maui College Culinary Arts and Hospitality and Tourism programs; Scholarship Program for MHLA Members; and Maui Junior Golf.
“The Maui Hotel & Lodging Association is committed to giving back to the community, and one of those ways is by providing scholarship opportunities for future business leaders in Maui County,” said Lisa Paulson, chief executive of the MHLA. “We are thrilled to be able to raise much-needed scholarship funds to invest in our young people.”
Top teams received prizes ranging from hotel stays and dining certificates to rounds of golf and merchandise.
The top finisher in this year’s tournament was Marriott’s Maui Ocean Club team.
