Miles E. King, 88, of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL died on Monday December 6, 2021. He was born August 26, 1933 in Richmond, VA. He graduated from Benedictine College Preparatory School in Richmond, then joined the Air Force and served in the Korean War. During this time, he married his high school girlfriend, Marty Moorefield. After graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University, he joined Ford Motor Company where he won the Ford Division Achievement Award in 1969. After working for Ford in Richmond, VA, Dearborn, MI and Jacksonville, FL, he bought and sold King’s Colonial Ford in Brunswick, GA and later purchased King’s Crown Ford in Jacksonville, FL. He sold this business and retired in 1999, which allowed him to spend time with his family and pursue other interests. He was inducted into the Senior Golf Hall of Fame in 2002 and also received the Jacksonville Area Golf Association Award of Excellence in 2013. He enjoyed taking care of his cats, golfing, fishing, gardening and going. at Dollar Tree. Miles died before death by his parents, Miles Sr. and Virginia King. He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Marty King, his sister Pat Chandler (Ken), his brother-in-law Bill Moorefield (Annie), his daughter Valerie King, his son Wade King (Lisa); granddaughters, Lindsey King and Kelly King Spears (Ben), step-granddaughter Lindsay Aldridge, three great-grandchildren and her cat Lucky. The Celebration of Life that was originally scheduled for January 2, 2022 is postponed for the health and safety of our friends and will be postponed to a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent on behalf of Community Hospice at Ascension St. Vincent’s Riverside, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257.
