Penn State men’s basketball head coach Micah Shrewsberry is expected to host the interpretation of the Coaches Against Cancer Penn State Golf Tournament in just a few weeks.

The 25th annual tournament will be held on Friday, June 3 at Penn State golf courses. Registration is open online until Friday, May 20.

On June 2, the day before the tournament’s opening swing, a sponsors’ and captains’ reception will be held at Medlar Field in Lubrano Park and will feature food, drinks, live music, and more. Additionally, an awards dinner will follow after the conclusion of the tournament the following evening.

The weekend slate will also include an online auction of items and experiences set up weeks in advance, with all proceeds going to Penn State Coaches vs. Cancer.

As for the tournament itself, the five-player, 18-hole event typically attracts over 300 golfers, sponsors and sports personalities from across the region. In addition to hosting Shrewsberry, this year’s event will feature Penn State’s men’s basketball coaching staff as well as other current and former Penn State coaches, athletes and department heads, who will join all golfers on the course.

Coaches vs Cancer hosts events throughout the year to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. After missing the golf tournament in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he’s back at Penn State for a second consecutive go-around.

Penn State’s Coaches vs. Cancer chapter has raised more than $3.5 million since 1997. Its golf tournament has raised approximately $2 million of that charitable portion.
