ASU entry wins US Junior Amateur

Wenyi Ding won the 74th US Junior Amateur at Bandon Dunes in Oregon last Saturday, claiming the title with a 3-2 victory over Caleb Surratt.

Ding is the first Chinese male golfer to win a US Golf Association championship. He is also the first international Junior Am champion since Min Woo Lee in 2016. Ding, 17, has committed to playing college golf at Arizona State. He will be a freshman for the 2023-24 season. In the quarterfinals of Junior Am, Ding knocked out San Diego’s Luke Potter. Potter is also an ASU signatory. He is already signed and will join the team this fall as a rookie.
