BURNSVILLE — The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference announced Wednesday that Sally Gallagher of Southwest Minnesota State University has been named NSIC’s Golfer of the Week.

This is the first time that Gallagher, a native of Moville, Iowa, has won this honor.

Gallagher opened the spring season earlier this week shooting consecutive rounds of 7 on par 78 to finish tied for fourth place out of 80 players with a 14 of 156 at the SMSU Spring Invite held at the par 71 Wigwam Blue Course in Litchfield Park, Arizona. She finished the 36-hole Invitational making seven birdies and 11 pars as she helped SMSU finish sixth in the 12-team tournament.

Dating back to the fall season, Gallagher has now recorded four straight under-80 rounds and has five in 14 rounds in the 2021-22 season. She leads SMSU with an average of 81.0 with six Top 20 finishes in seven tournaments.

Gallagher is a 2019 graduate of Woodbury Central High School.

The SMSU Women’s Golf Team continues to play today by hosting the four-team SMSU Challenge at Coldwater Golf Course in Avondale, Arizona.
