HOCKLEY, Texas – Oklahoma Women’s Golf moved up to sixth after the second round of the 2022 Big 12 Women’s Golf Championship at the Houston Oaks Clubs.
The Sooners entered Day 8 and shot a 17-for-284 on Saturday. OU has passed Texas Tech and is just seven strokes behind Iowa State.
Hannah Screen held a clean scoreboard through six. She scored a bogey on the seventh and came back into balance after a birdie on the eighth. The screen briefly went from 1 under to 11 before consecutive bogeys on the 12th and 13th holes. The London, England product finished its day 2 of 73 and is tied for sixth.
meagan winan and Mikhaela Fortuna each finished the first 36 holes tied for 23rd.
Winans opened her inning with a birdie and moved to 1-over after a double bogey in the sixth. She responded with back-to-back birdies on the eighth and ninth holes. The Richardson, Texas product finished her day 5 of 76. For the second straight day, she was the only Sooner to finish under par in the back or front nine, recording a 1 under 34 on the front nine .
Fortuna finished the front nine 3 of 38 and scored his only birdie of the round on the third hole. She recorded a 3 of 39 in the last nine and a 6 of 77.
Maria Fernanda Martinez and Libby Winans finished the first 36 holes tied for 39th. Each shot 5 of 76.
The Sooners had the fourth-best par-4 average (4.28) and Screen tied for the third-most birdies (6) through the first two rounds.
The Sooners wrap up the Big 12 Championship on Sunday, April 24. OU is paired with TCU and Iowa State and is scheduled to start at 9 a.m.
