GREENVILLE, South Carolina — A day after struggling at Furman Golf Club, the Spiders were one of the hottest teams on the course in Round 2 of the Lady Paladin Invitational on Saturday. The Spiders combined for a team score of 295 (+7) in the second round, a 16-stroke improvement from their Friday performance and tied for the sixth-highest score among the 18 teams on the field. By the end of the round, Richmond had moved up six spots in the team standings. Through 36 holes, the Spiders are tied for 12th with Florida Atlantic and Florida Gulf Coast.

Second year lauren jones led the Spiders with a 1 of 73, their best run since last October’s Lady Blue Hen Invitational. Trio of Spiders shot down 74 (+2): junior Rory Weinfurther and freshmen Hannah Lydic and Olivia Wilkie. Weinfurther is tied for 24th in the individual standings at 148 (+4), the best of any Spider. Jones is three shots behind at 151 (+7), tied for 34th. Wilkie, whose 74 on Friday was the lowest round of his short Spiders career, is tied for 45th at 152 (+8). Lydic is at 155, tied for 68th. Senior Kendall Millerwhose 79 (+7) on Friday was an eight-stroke improvement from Saturday, is tied for 91st at 166 (+22).

The Spiders totaled 25 birdies in two rounds, tied for third in the field.

Richmond will enter the final round with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. Sunday.
