MARYVILLE, Mo.–Augustana Women’s Golf Team placed first at the Midwest Classic on Tuesday. The Vikings finished No. 15 Central Missouri in the tournament and were trailed by Molly Stevens. Shannon McCormick, Masy Mock, Lauren Tim and Lanie Veenendall joined Stevens in the team of five.
Stevens tied for first place in the tournament and headed for a tiebreaker with Allison Comer of Nebraska-Kearney. The two played three holes and Stevens became the tournament’s individual medalist.
Head Coach Quote Coralee Jorgensen
“Sometimes you have opponents to beat but then again all the teams had to deal with weather, wind and cold. A big part of that win was just guts. They were grinding 27 holes on Monday , then 9 holes today. Molly drilled 3 more holes to win in sudden death. She had to keep cringing! We had a happy team that played with smiles throughout the tournament!”
