July had no major tournaments scheduled for the Women’s Golf Association. The July 6 regular scramble was won by the team of Tinky Ulivarri, Kathy Burrow, Ginny Romero and Nancy Kettenacker.

The Ace Day competitions took place on July 13 and 30. Wednesday’s winners were Kettenacker in the 9-hole division and Regina Trujillo in the 18-hole division. Berta Murzyn won the 18-hole division on Saturday, with no 9-hole players competing.

The July 20 playday featured a Stableford scoring format. In Group 1, Edie Redfearn-Moore was the winner, while Robin Boyd won in Group 2.

On July 27, a dice-rolling format determined the overall winner, Marilyn Jaramillo.

The birdies were scored by Boyd and Murzyn, who birdied twice. Additionally, chips were abundant in July, led by Boyd and Redfearn-Moore with two each. Tammie Fuller, Kathryn Bayless, Ulivarri, Trujillo, Murzyn and Jaramillo also scored chips.

Early gross winners were Redfearn-Moore, Bayless and Murzyn with 2 for 18 holers and Fran Griffeth. For 9-hole players, Romero and Murzyn were early raw winners.

August’s signature event is the Grandma’s Tournament on August 17, with Ace Day competitions scheduled for August 10 and 13.
