PRINCEVILLE – The Kaua’i North Shore Lions Club is hosting their annual scholarship golf tournament at Makai Golf Course in Princeville on January 8, with lots of prizes and fun.

All proceeds from the tournament go towards scholarships for Kaua’i North Shore students for use in education beyond high school.

Advance registration is available on the North Shore Lions website, Through the website, people can enter a team, co-sponsor a hole, or pay online under the “Golf Tournament” menu item.

The tournament is a team scramble of Florida’s best ball, with contests for the straighter drive, green, closest to the pin and more, including a $ 25,000 hole-in-one contest. Entries for these contests are available for purchase on the website or during golf day registration.

Registration for the golf day begins at 6:45 am with departures from the first and 10th tees. The tournament will be played with tee times due to COVID-19 health and safety rules. Departure times start at 7.40 a.m. and continue until 1 p.m.

The registration fee is $ 125 and includes lunch and raffles.

In addition to golf, the Kaua’i North Shore Lions will also be offering a helicopter golf ball drop. Golf balls for this event start at $ 10 a ball and are available on the website or at the registration desk on golf day. At last year’s golf ball presentation, the winner took home $ 1,200.
