LOGAN, Utah- The Utah State golf team returns to action this week, playing the Valpo Fall Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, September 19-20. The 54-hole tournament will be played at the par 72 Sand Creek Country Club in Chesterton, Indiana.

Of Sand Creek’s three nine-hole courses, golfers will play the Creek and Marsh courses, which combine for 7,052 yards.

Golfers will play 36 holes on Monday with a tee shot at 7 a.m. (MT). The tournament concludes Tuesday with 18 holes with tee times between 6:30 a.m. and 8 a.m. MT. Live scores will be available on GolfStat.com.

Along with the Aggies and host Valpo, the 17-team field includes Bradley, Cleveland State, DePaul, Detroit Mercy, Evansville, Green Bay, IUPUI, Loyola, Missouri State, North Dakota, Northern Kentucky, Purdue Fort Wayne, Robert Morris, Western Illinois and Youngstown State.

Wright State has won the team title each of the last two times this event has taken place, 2021 and 2019. The Raiders’ Mikkel Mathiesen was the individual medalist last year.

Utah State’s last visit to Hoosier State was in the fall of 2017, when they placed seventh out of 13 teams in the Notre Dame-hosted Fighting Irish Classic held at Warren Golf Course in South Bend, Indiana.

In the Aggies’ last outing, Utah State finished in sixth place against all 24 teams in posting a 54-hole team score of 5 of 869 (287-290-292) at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational hosted by the Air Force. .

Utah State Sophomore Esteban Jaramillo shot a 2 under 70 in the final round and finished in fifth place, tying his career best. His round included four birdies on the par-72 course which measured 7,541 yards. He finished the tournament at 5 under 211 for his career best score over 54 holes.

The Bogota, Colombia native had 15 birdies for the tournament to tie for third in the field of 120 golfers. Jaramillo played the par-3 to 1-under holes, tied for second. Participate in her first tournament as an Aggie, second year Nathan Preslar tied for 31st at 2 of 218. He shot a 1-under 71 on the final day. Junior Javier Vazquez tied for 51st at 7 of 223, while junior John Cook and second Luis Gerardo Cantu tied for 63rd at 9 of 225.
