A look at what’s going on at Cleveland State Athletics…

men’s football
-The Vikings will hit the road for two games this week, starting with a 4:00 p.m. game in St. Bonaventure today (Monday, September 12), before heading to Detroit Mercy on Saturday, September 17 to open #HLMSOC play.
-Last time out, Cleveland State lost its first game of the year, falling to No. 8 Marshall 3-1, with Bojan Kolevski scoring in the third minute.
-Jannis Schmidt won his second straight Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week honor after scoring two goals for UIC and a third for Army.

Women’s football
-Cleveland State will begin Horizon League play this week, heading to IUPUI on Thursday, September 15 and hosting Detroit Mercy on Sunday, September 18.
-The Vikings finished non-league play last time out, dropping a 1-0 decision to Canisius.
-Last week, Kathryn Ramicone was named Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week after registering two goals and an assist against Niagara and Saint Francis.

Volleyball
-Cleveland State will close out non-league games this week, traveling to Kent State on Thursday, September 15 before hosting Akron on Friday, September 16.
-Last time, the Vikings won 3-1 over Morgan State in their home opener in 2022.
-At the start of the week, Laken Voss is averaging 3.41 kills per set, while Audrey McConihe is averaging 4.31 digs per set.

Cross country
-The Vikings will return to action at the All-Ohio Championships, with the women’s 6K scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. start on Friday, September 16.
-Last time out, Cleveland State participated in the Tommy Titan Invite, with Hannah Korte finishing second and Ariana Coats placing fifth overall.
-The All-Ohio Championships will mark the third of seven races for the Vikings this season.

-Cleveland State will return to the Joe Feaganes Invitational, with the two-day tournament taking place Monday, September 12 and Tuesday, September 13.
-The Vikings opened their fall 2022 roster at the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational last time out, with David Laib posting a T15 finish to lead the Vikings.

female golf
-The Vikings will open their 2022 fall campaign at the Roseann Schwartz Invite this week, with action taking place Monday, September 12 and Tuesday, September 13.
-This will mark the first of four events for Cleveland State during the fall campaign.

Men’s Tennis
-Cleveland State will open the fall 2022 season at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic this weekend, with Maxime Mareschal-Hay and Mikael Erler earning spots in the prestigious tournament.
-The action will take place from September 16-18, with Mareschal-Hay and Erler appearing in the singles and doubles draws.

Esports
-Cleveland State will participate in Week 2 of Activation this week, with contests scheduled against Ithica, Juniata, Redbird Academy and Center College to determine the season’s division placement.
-Last week, the Vikings started their inaugural season by winning in Valorant against Missouri (13-10) and League of Legends with the White Team against Redbird Academy (1-0).

Hannah Korte, cross country
Recorded a second-place finish at the Tommy Titan Invite, posting a 5k time of 19:59 to beat the Vikings.

Audrey McConihe, volleyball
Averaged a team-best 3.85 digs per set on the week, combining for a total of 50 digs in three games. Opened the week with 24 digs in Akron, marking his fourth 20-dig game of the year.
