ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Houston women’s golf continues its spring season when it kicks off at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic, which begins Friday morning at UGA Golf Course.

Teams will play 18 holes each day with tee times split from numbers 1 and 10 beginning at 7:30 a.m. (CDT) on Friday and Saturday and a split tee time at 7:00 a.m. (CDT) for Sunday’s final round.

Cougars enter this weekend’s event after finishing 12and at MountainView Collegiate at MountainView Golf Club in Tucson, Arizona, March 18-20.

At this event, senior Annie-Kim posted a 3-under 213, thanks to a second-round 67 and tied for 18and lead the Cougars.

Under the direction of Carolyn Macow Leatherwood Head Coach Lydia Gummthe Cougars will be represented by seniors Annie-KimSenior Ariana Saenzsecond Delaney Martinsecond Nicole Abelar and senior Maria Jose Martinez.

This season, Kim leads the Cougars with an average of 72.52 and 10 rounds of par or better, including four in the 60s. The Seoul native has posted three Top 20 finishes, including two Top 10 finishes, including a season best fourth place finish at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational October 4-6, 2021.

senior companion Ariana Saenz ranks second on the team with an average of 74.10 and seven rounds of par or better.

The Cougars will face student-athletes from Alabama, Arkansas, Charleston, Georgia, Georgia Southern, Louisville, Mercer, Mississippi, Mississippi State, South Carolina, USC, Texas, Texas A&M and Wake Forest.


For Friday’s first round, the Cougars will face off in groups with student-athletes from Mississippi, starting No. 1 at 8:15 a.m. CDT.

After the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic, the Cougars close out their regular season when they face off against the Bruzzy at Winstar Golf Club in Thackerville, Okla., April 11-12.

From there, Houston takes its first steps into the playoffs when it competes in the American Athletic Conference Championships, which take place April 17-19 at Pinehurst #6 – Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, NC.

The Cougars will learn their NCAA playoff fate on the draft show, which airs at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, on the Golf Channel.

Seventy-two teams and 12 non-team members will compete at six NCAA regional venues across the country. These sites include Stanford Golf Course (Stanford, CA); Vanderbilt Legends Club (Franklin, Tenn.); The championship course at UNM (Albuquerque, NM); University of Michigan Golf Course (Ann Arbor, Michigan); Karsten Creek Golf Club (Stillwater, Okla.) and Seminole Legacy Golf Club (Tallahassee, Florida).
